Wasp Barcode Scanner - A Popular Scanner To Consider

Looking for a Wasp barcode scanner?  Well, before we get into that, let’s take a look at the company we’re dealing with. Wasp Barcode Technologies is a company that provides data capture and tracking solutions that are geared mainly towards small businesses.

Now not only does this company provide barcode scanners, but they also have barcode printers, solutions for inventory control, asset tracking, time/attendance as well as POS solutions (Point of Sale).

They’ve been in the game for over 13 years and are based out of Plano Texas, although they also have offices in London.  They sell their products worldwide through retail stores as well such as Staples, Fry’s Electronics, Tiger Direct and various other such retailers.

Now as far as which Wasp barcode scanner you should get, it really all depends on your personal preferences for your business.  If you want to get one on the lower end, you can spend as low as $60, I however would recommend spending at least $150 or so on yours to ensure you get one of good quality that will last you a long time.

One of the better ones out there is the (LS2208-SR20001R-KR) Symbol Ls 2208 - Barcode Scanner.  It’s a good product and pretty reliable.  A lot of people who complain about scanners tend to cite the fact that they eat up batteries or they can’t scan items that are too far away from the scanner.  With this model though, you don’t have any of those problems.  This is a good scanner to use for both professional and home application usage, it will run you about $150.

Now another somewhat different scanner to try is the WASP WWR 2905 Pen Scanner with USB.  This is a Wasp barcode scanner which will take a while to get used to, but I’ve found it works well with Windows, Linux as well as the Mac OSX.  The good thing about this device is it’s portable so you don’t find yourself typing a bunch of serial numbers by hand when on-site.

With this Wasp barcode scanner, when you scan something in, it acts as if you had typed it in via a keyboard.  You can configure this product by scanning in various bar codes, you may want to configure it to be as universal as possible so that you don’t need to worry about scanning in a variety of different bar codes.  One thing to note about this though is it doesn’t scan those new 3D codes that some shippers tend to use.  One bad thing about this though is it doesn’t come with software you can use to create bar codes, you need to pick up some separate software for that.  This product will run you about $130.

So if you’re looking for a Wasp barcode scanner, I’d highly suggest you do a bit of your own research before you come to a conclusion regarding which one you want to pick up, I’ve only gone over 2 of the many available.
