Barcode Scanners
Are you considering picking up Metrologic
barcode scanners? This brand of scanner is one of the
better ones that you can pick up, you not only get fast
automated data capture capabilities, but you get it via
laser, holographic or vision based technologies.
When you get these scanners, they come
without cords and they are handheld. They also can be
found as “in-counter” to be used along with POS
devices.
Now before we go any further, lets take a
look at the company itself. Metrologic is a company
who has partnered themselves with Honeywell Scanning and
Mobility Inc., together these two have created many a highly
regarded scanner. These scanners have been used in
various settings, from warehouses to hospitals all the way
down to offices and retail environments. This brand of
scanner comes with features you won’t find in many other
brands of scanners.
One of the better features that you’ll
find with them is the “omni directional scanning”
capabilities. What this means is it’s a lot easier to
scan in items. You can scan an item in at various
different angles and from a distance as well and still have
it register. There is also a “swiftcode” software
available which allows scanning via the Metrologic barcode
scanners to pop up on the OS quite fast. These devices
also come with a scan rate that is pretty high, 1,650 scans
a second.
One other great thing about the way
technology has been moving along here, is that these days
you don’t even need these products to be wired in, they can
be wireless with Bluetooth technology.
Additionally, Metrologic barcode scanners
are versatile, they can scan in many different kinds of
barcodes. Barcodes such as 1D, RSS, PDF417, Matrix,
EAN/UCC Composite, Micro PDF and just Postal
Codes.
If you’re not sure which of the Metrologic
barcode scanners you should get at this point, here’s a
quick look at what you have available:
Metrologic MS 9540 VoyagerCG
Barcode Scanner
This is a scanner that isn’t USB, it
instead plugs into the PS2 keyboard connector. Some
people actually prefer this as they don’t have to deal with
driver compatibility problems. Although such problems
don’t happen very often, for those less technical, this
might be preferred.
If you are however interested in the USB
version of this scanner, you can look it up with the model
number: MK9540-32A38.
This is a scanner which if you pickup is
going to run you about $150, which is pretty
reasonable.
Metrologic 9540 Voyager MS9540
MK9540 Barcode Scanner
Ok, here’s one more of the Metrologic
barcode scanners to look into. It costs about $130,
has an automatic trigger and works both hands free and also
as a hand held scanner. This has some Firmware that is
updated via a Flash ROM and it also has both short and long
range activation. Finally, this is a black USB
scanner.
So if you’re looking for some Metrologic
barcode scanners, keep those two in mind, but also be sure
to keep searching around for different ones as there are
plenty more out there.
